How cute is too cute?

Mercedes and Ryan Hickey have graciously given up their home to Sarah Uhl and I....and lucky for me they just got a new puppy on friday night.

This is Max and he is a German Shepard...and oh my goodieness he's a cutie pa-toot-ie...

I have been lucky enough to get to 'Puppy sit' for a few hours last night...and seeing as he is new to this house he was whinning a little...and I figured he missed his Mom and Brothers...so I did my best dog impression...nudging him w/ my head, laying on my back, not wigging out when he licked my face (just squeezing everything shut as tight as possible....but just on my face, mind you)...I don't know what Max thought, but I was very entertained...

I wish I spent more time in one location...animals are great friends...they're not critical, they love anyone...I should try and be more like a dog...I'll work on that!

Ok, well I'm so glad I unloaded all my pics...
I'd like to thank Ryan and Mercedes for letting us stay w/ them here! They have a great home, and two weeks of guests is tough on anyone...but we (as female cyclists) could not survive w/o people like them...Plus, I'm so glad I got to meet them..they are both hilarious, hard working, outdoors loving people...w/ an awesome puppy to boot! So thanks to you both!

STOP THE PRESS, WE HAVE PHOTOS

So, now go review the last 5 posts....I added all the photos from this week!! And all it was was to clean out my cache...but because I didn't know what that word meant, I just ignored it...then I mentioned it to Mike...and in 2 min it was fixed...live and learn!

I LOVE BLOGGER!

Still no photos..

Boy oh boy is this testing my patience....arrgghh! So, I emailed Blogger, and after a few automated responses got something that seemed to apply to me. Then it had like 20 steps to go through and answered these questions to try to help them figure out what's wrong...yea, haven't done that yet. Cause, isn't that YOUR job buddy? To fix it?? I write, and enjoy your FREE service, then bitch like a spoiled rich girl the instant I have problems....because I'm totally ignorant on how to correct the probblem, therefore helpless...and I would like to stay that way...

Anywho, back to important stuff....ME!! Yes, so yesterdays wkt was 5x500s, and it was windy....thank god there were others there to do timing, and just really help motivate me make the workout a good one! I was pleased w/ my efforts, they were all very consistent, and I guess that is good. And I was WASTED (or waist-ed) when I was done...I went home, ate, then took a 1.5hr nap, then ate again...then vegged in front of TV...then slept for 10hrs...

And today, I feel better...my neck is killing me...all these constant left turns are a pain in the NECK (hardy har har)...I just did the warm-up w/ the trackies, then some roller work (trying to learn how to look behind me and hold a straight line...man, this may take a while)

That's all for now....I might try to make some sprouted wheat berry bread later...and after 5 days the black beans have sprouted, and so did the Adzuki's...I'm gonna try to make a salad out of them...we'll see how that goes...Oh, remember me bitching about how long the soy beans took...well 3 days later (1 day soaking, 2 days cooking) I threw the little bastards out...THEY WERE BURNT, arrrr after all that damn coocking (wait no cooking) I forgot to add H20...I can't stop laghing at 'coocking' it sounds like something Chrissy would write...

camp starts tomarry...I'll give you the low down...

The Napkin Ride

Ok, so today consisted of moving from my apartment to host housing (thanks to Sarah for giving me her room while she races Parker)...I had to carry all my stuff about 1/4mi...and it took 3 trips, and my beans spilled all over me...and I dropped the eggs in these nice ppls house...man oh man...otherwise it was smooth as butta

I'm staying in town to ride the track...I have NO desire to go to a stage race...all that's left on my schedule is track....so why race the road?? And travel, and move, and pay more money, and have to climb? When I can sit on my happy butt here and work on my weaknesses on the track?

So I went for a road ride (speaking of working on the track...I was told NOT to ride track today...to recover...which I've learned takes 15million times longer at altitude....and I think this must be what old ppl feel like everyday...)...it was the Napkin ride...at dinner Sarah drew a detailed map and reviewed it clearly w/ me...and it was PERFECT, she's a great map drawer...(not a drawer...draw-er...hmmm, not sure, Zoe??) anywho....it was beautiful....and of course I took photos..

This ride came complete with waterfalls....

dirt roads...for climbing AND decending...I almost ate it twice, gocking at the goergous scenery, and just being a dork...(Gock? Hmm, I wonder)

Uh oh, here I go again, gettin' HIGH in Colorado....there's the city WAY down there...it's so cool to ride up like this, you feel so far away..but it's only like 1hr up...neat-toe

In the meantime...I've been trying to cook some black and soy beans ALL FREAKIN DAY...the chart said the black beans would take 1-1.5hrs (more like 6) and the soy said 4 (it's been 6 and they are rock hard)....I did the 'quick soak' then left them overnight AS WELL...so I have no idea why it's taking so long.

I sprouted some mung beans last week and it was a great salad...can you sprout all beans?? Cause I've had these black and adzuki beans 'sproutin' for 3 days and nothing....but the wheat berries are ready...what gives??

ok...well it's 9:40...and this park bench outside my old hotel is killing my back....and I'm afraid I'm gonna get mugged soon...so that's all for today...

Did you notice I added my email to the template? That is the ONE AND ONLY good thing about Blogger Beta..easy changes to the template....but not worth giving up the photos.....

Happy Friday (ooh ooh great movie...back in 'the day')

Fred Crappy 2

href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/4709/1846/1600/DSCN1510.jpg">
So I had a great lazy day...slept in, went to the coffee shop for several hrs w/ great company...

This is a picture of 'The best coffee in North America, with it's PERFECT velvity foam'...as dubbed by Jennie Reed...check them out next time you are in town!!

then I headed to the cafeteria at the OTC for lunch, then mooched off the free Wi Fi there...then met w/ Colby...then raced...

So tonight was...Sprints and Points.
"I love Sprint, I love Sprints"....was my attempt at getting 'into' it...Let's see how did it go? Well....I"m learing a lot in my head, and still struggle w/ exicuting it....there is so little time....my thinking takes too long then the race is over and I'm pissed....but I'm trying...Jennie had told me about being at the rail...and how far back to be....so I worked on that....then didn't know what to do after the corner...and pretty much rode shoulder to shoulder w/ Carrie Higgins till she went faster than me, and I tried to get on her wheel...and she won!

My next sprint...I went hard from the gun, she got on me and I waited too long to pull up, then tried to get behind her and take a run...but never came around her....So I learned, pull up the instant you can see them in your purr-if-real-al vision, make her think you're done and go again, but once you commit, go full gas.

So overall...guess who won??? Jennie Reed, then Sarah Uhl, then Carrie Higgins, then Maranda Duff...and I was butt last...but learned tons...

Yea, Points race. I decided to chill early, there were 8 sprints...and Sarah Uhl seemed to be doing the same...so I felt safe...I think Jennie took both first 2...but some how I took the third sprint, w/ some room behind me...so I kept going....Jennie and Sarah joined me and we rotated...until the sprint and Sarah jumped, and I think I took 2nd, then we resumed rotating, then I think I took the next one..then Jennie blew (hmm, maybe it had something to do w/ the 98inch gear she had on?? PSYCHO!!!)..and Renee Eastman joined the game....and now I had passed Jennie, and Sarah and I were tied for first going into the final sprint...and guess who took it...Sarah the World champion sprinter...fancy that...but I am very pleased w/ second place...it was a good race...and I raced it...everyone did...fun, hard, fun

Then we went to dinner at Old Chicago....which was a blast, Sarah, Jennie, and Mike Freedman were all in good spirits...lots of laughs...good times!

Good night...life is good

Fred Crappy

So we started racing tonight. First was the 200m TT (my Favorite)...and all I can say is I wasn't last...that person didn't know there was a 200m and had no warm up and a tiny gear on...but I beat her...by like .000001...
Jennie Reed rolled a 11.27 (smokin' fast), Sarah Uhl did a 12.2 (super duper), Carrie Higgins had a 12.8 (I think), I had a 13.0..blaa blaa blaa

Next was the 5mile scratch race (just a crit)...I tried a few moves..but my positioning in the attack (like where and when I attacked) was off...and ya know I really should know better...aagghh...so no attacks went anywhere, so I decided to sit and wait...and got 4th aagghhrrrr...I had Jennie's wheel 2 laps to go and didn't fight for it...results:Jennie Reed, Sarah Uhl, Laura Kropsh (not right, sorry), and me, then Maranda Duff, and Renee Eastman.

Finally we had the Kerin. I pulled 1 spot....and instantly Jennie and Sarah jumped me...so I fought for 3rd, and won...then fought x2 to hold it through the next 4 laps...then w/ 1.5 to go it was clear Sarah and Jennie were working together (EDIT: I have been informed, my novice eyes were WRONG, they were NOT working together)...and saw them jump, and tried to respond but my legs had other ideas....I ended 5th. Results:Jennie Reed, Sarah Uhl, Carrie Higgins, Maranda Duff, Me, Renee Eastman.

Then we all went to dinner to the one place I've been to before. I was fun to hang out w/ new people. Looking forward to day 2.

Good nite

Good Morning Colorado. Now w/ Photos

Ok, so I'm trying this new method of falling asleep (mainly w/o medication, or OTC assist)...and it's counting your breaths backward from 400...the person who suggested it to me said he only gets to 280s...yea, I remember 112...but I fell asleep...

I'm loving this apartment...woke up made some Folgers coffee, IM'd w/ Jen T, walked to this grocery store....

and they mean it...we had Aldie's (hmm, that's not right)...anyway in Kansas we have the equivolant...a NO NAME store, everything is in boxes....there are no name brands, VERY limited selection, and limited produce...
But what they did have was great mexican spices and sauces for all my beans (and I got some black beans...a co-worker from India said sprouted black beans have TONS of iron...I"m gonna give it a try)...

After shopping, started cooking beans, and spelt....played on the computer...fought w/ blogger...then rode my track bike to the velodrome...dropped it off...now I"m trying not to get nervous, and focus on why I'm here and how to get the most out of this experience!

Ok, gotta go do my mental training...I'll tell ya all about the racing when I get back!

Back to Colorado...Photos included

Yep, here I am back in beautiful Colorado springs...in my own little haven here at Apollo Executive Suites (a fancy name for a crappy apartment)...but I'm very content.

Let me show you what you can get for $55

The beautiful Living area (I'm hoping to sell that couch space to some poor cyclist, like myself)...notice the extra sofachair...AND dinner table (the other 2 chairs are in the closet, in case I have EXTRA guests...or want to sit and hang out in the closet, w/ a friend)...

The MASTER bedroom, and what appears to be a balcony...but dont be fooled it's only 3inchs wide, more like a glorified shutter system...

Then we have the 'four-year', which is hillbilly for 'hallway'...w/ a second closet...fancy shmancy...

And the kitchen (this is where the place really pays for itself)...a full stove, fridge, coffee maker, toaster...'I'm in heaven'....and hey look they stocked me up w/ my favorite grains, and beans...(just kidding, I brought those)

And sprouting some Adzuks....damn, I'm so healthy it's SCARY! (just kidding, I'm on an new kick to take better care of myself, and eating well is a major part)

Ok, well, thank god I get wireless here...this is really sweet for $55...wish I had someone to share it w/...not just the ammenities, the cost too...and maybe they'd have a car....I'm refusing to rent one...so I have to WALK to the velodrome tomorrow...it's only like a mile (so I'm sure I'll be sore for days)

Oh..I forgot to give the prelude to why I"m here (Zoe, is that the right use of that word??)...I'm here to participate in the Fred Cappy track race Wed/Thurs...possibly a part of the Parker Omnium this weekend (but w/o a car, prob not...and no need to get hill work in this time of year)....or track workouts....then on Mon or Tues?? Track camp starts, I'll move to the OTC (hee hee, sounds fun...I hear the food is awesome...odd yes, cause usually cafeteria food isn't but I guess it's different here...so any pounds I loose on my bean/grain diet, will promptly return, I'm afraid!!....aww well, win some ya loose some)...

Nite nite, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite...
miss ya Mike...this bed didn't come w/ a replacement bugger (they're extra)

Kari is SOOO very....cute!

Here's some great shots of a great girl...and her new man Aaron!

Kari is one of my closest friends, AND we work together....

I'm ALIVE!!

Sorry folks, took a little blog vacation there! Seeing as there wasn't much to blog about...it seemed appropriate.

So, I did a 30min crit this weekend....ohh weee, wanna see...

Good luck trying to pick me out in the HUGE peloton....look for the NON Group Health rider...

Here I am, very embarressed about the 'Podium Boys'...not a huge fan of that...basically they pulled two guys off the side of the road and shoved them on stage w/ us...LAME

(SEE BOY ON MY RIGHT)

But the cool part was they gave me a bottle of Champaign...so I sprayed the stuipid podium boy in the face, then turned on the 2nd place rider (sorry!)....

Hah! that was fun!!

Colavita, Crit Nats, and Gossip!

So, this weekend I spent with the Colavita/Cooking Light team, ran by non other than Jim Williams, wrenched by Doug Nolastname, and housed by Angie and Husband, and two impecable sons!

The weekend started w/ a rought trip here...instead of arriving on my direct flight from Seattle at 4pm, I arrived via Denver at 12:30am....not so sweet.

The two guest riders, me and Allison Powers (one of the nicest, strongest riders I've met)

Sat we had the warm up 40min race...for the team we had the one and ONLY Tina Pic, and simply Sima Trapper, and Sarah doalltheraces Tilletson...and fellow guest powerhouse Allison Powers, and lil 'ol me.

Sat went as planned....poor Tina was chomping at the bit to race, but Jim kept a tight reighn on her for Sunday's main event...

Sunday, Criterium Nationals day...a 50k crit full w/ primes and excitement. We rode well, covered what we needed to, got into what we needed to...Tina won the 1/2 way prime of $500...w/ 6 laps to go I tried to move up a little too aggresively, dove into a corner, and got way squeezed and was forced to come to a complete stop, unclip...and lost contact w/ the group...and never caught back on....but Allison and Sarah did everything in thier power to help Tina...but Tina had the last lap down...was leading as she set up for the final turn..then WHAMO a huge bump, then weeee through the air....yup, crash...in the last corner...that sucked!! But thank heavens she's ok...

Later her great husband Chris was helping to tend to her wounds so she could get her shorts on for lunch....

Sarah and Sima are SO serious, it was almost boring to hang out w/ them (NOT). They are a HOOOT!

Tom Schueler (aaahhhgg, spelling?? Team Sports, you know) took all of us out to lunch...and we had time to chat and enjoy this great day!!

You're probably wondering what the 'Gossip' part was about...well this girl was riding around in a Monex kit on Sat with Roberto Gagmeoli, and we all thought it was Lynn...but no, this is, as he put it, "my new project"...and she was wearing her JUNIOR nationals jersey....good stuff

Lastley, I'd like to thank Jim Williams for the opportuinity to ride w/ such a great group of riders. I have for so long wanted to ride for Tina, what a dream come true. She is such a wonderful person, as much as she is a wonderful athlete! Doug took awesome care of me AND my disgustingly dirty bike...he definately went above and beyond, thanks so much Doug. Sima/Sarah/Tina/Jim/Doug all made me feel so welcomed, and comfortable...along w/ our awesome host housing who cooked for us, cleaned, took care of our every need....and riding w/ the Phenom of the season Allison Powers...what an awesome weekend....Pinch me!

Thanks all that were involved!!

Mike's First Track Race

Awww, how cute...Mike's on a track bike! Sweet, one more bike purchase coming right up!!!!

He raced really well, smart, aggressive....not like me! He got 2nd in the Miss N Out...raced the Points well...I'm super excited he enjoyed it! Now, I wonder how long until he's faster than me....hmm, I bet he already is....oh well, there are no losers in this family!! (just speaking of the nuclear family now...those 'other' murdin/shamatha/hulser/traffas/cook/pruits now they are a different story, nudge-a-nugde-a...)

Birthdays ROCK!

"Ja ma hon Leva"(Swedish Happy B-Day song) Mike singing...carrying a tray of Coffee/Juice/Toast/Cake...that's what I woke up to today..

What a great way to start my B-Day! So we ate, drank, and enjoyed some cake. Then we opened the gifts sent by his family and my family...Mike's B-Day is Aug 9th, and I was in Colo Springs...so he saved all his gifts so we could open them together!!
I got sweet new orange/red bowls from Sweden, and awesome Tea spoons...this cool Cog Tea Candleholder, and Leige Baston Leige light switch cover..and so so so much more....
(I removed the lued photo of Mike, by popular demand...Mostly Mike)

As I was headed downstairs after breakfast in bed, I noticed I had a new voicemail...it was Mom and the boys singing 'Happy Birthday'...Man, I'm a lucky girl...getting 'Happy Birthday' sung to me x2, in TWO different languages BEFORE 8am...this is gonna be a great day!!

Then at work they had a Pot Luck....

And an Awesome Cake...that's number 2 on the day!!

Woody Cox Sets A New World Record!!

How did I forget this??

Woody Cox 'rolled' (a new 'trackie' term I've picked up) a 2:24.439 in his 3K pursuit, setting a new National and World record as seen on USA Cycling:

Woody Cox (Redmond, Wash./Byrne Specialty Gas) 2:24.439 (WR) (NR)

Woody has been an awesome teacher for meat the last few races. He's got a great system, and a huge wealth of knowledge that he gladly shares with me (like, "it's a points race Kele you have to go for the Points"). I have benefited from what he's taught me greatly! Thanks Woody! Good things happen to Good People!! Congratulations, Well deserved!!

Yo Mama

Some of you die hard Kelekelebobelly fans may recognize this name from my comments list....it's my Mom

I had to BEG her to join me on top of the Podium...but it's because SHE is a major reason I made it up there. She was the typical single mother, who did it the A-typical way. She was a Montessori teacher (ie low low pay)...and although we met the requirements to receive government aide, she refused...and taught me about perseverance, work ethics, honesty, dedication, and respect...Thanks Mom!

Action Jackson was here

Ok, so I'm struggling to find cute, funny little titles to preview my next amazing entry....

So, on Sat we did 2 laps of our 30 lap Scratch race then it started raining...so we hid under our tents to wait it out...

But it only got worse...

And worse...

Annette and Debbie grabed anything they could for warmth...yes, those are helmets on Annettes lap...she was DESPERATE...

Day off on Friday means Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak!

So, Friday I had no races...I chose not to do the sprints. So, my Mom and brother Sam drove down from Wichita Kansas to watch my races Sat...so we took Friday to see the sight in beautiful Colo. Springs.

This is a Granite conglomerate....yea, I'm wicked smat (Boston Accent)...in the 'Garden'...well these Gods must not like colorful gardens, or they don't eat much cause this garden just has a bunch of huge rocks in it...hmmm, not the kind of garden I know....wierdos

"Dude, Sam, I"m SOO high right now...huhuhuhuhu", "I know Jess, I've NEVER been this high Man".....

It's alright everyone, EVERYBODY'S HIGH, we're on top of Pike's Peak!!!!!

Even MOM'S high....heeheehee

'Under the influence', Sam and I think we can conquer the world!

Absolutely BREATH-TAKING, literally....at over 14,000 feet we were dizzy and giddy. Mom struggled w/ the camera and cracked us all up...we nearly passed out!

To enter the park you pay the small fee of $30 to drive your own car up the part paved, part dirt road...and they give you a brochure w/ helpful tips about safety on your trip up this world know motion. One tip was that if you leave your car, always put a note on it on where you went and when you'll be back, in case something happens....So we did...

"Went to the Gift Shop, back in five minutes"

I wonder why no one else is following the rules. Maybe the meant in areas a little more desolate?? Well, we cracked ourselves up for quite a while on that one....damn I'm funny!

Man after all that sitting in the car, I had really worked up an appetite...mmmmmm dinner!

Thanks so much to Mom and Sam for taking the time (2x 8hr drive from Wichita, for a 15min Scratch race) to come watch me race. Having the love and support of my family gives me more strength than a million workouts (just don't tell Ryan!). I love you both, and am delighted to be able to share this new part of my life w/ you both...now you'll get my 'track lingo'...
