Circuit Race in Witchy Fitchy

A little warm-up action, under that sweet Kona tent!!

Here I am squeaking into the top 10 call ups!

Today we had the circuit race. A 3 mi course w/ a hill we get to do 11 times. Our plan was to set up Sarah Uhl for the sprints, and we executed it well on the first sprint lap (there are 4 on all even laps)...then she got in a super strong break w/ Sarah Ohmar (Colavita), and Laura Van Gilder (Lipton)...she went for the sprint points again in the break, and was attacked as well by Ohmar..and after multiple huge efforts for the sprints, and to cover these attacks, w/ 3 laps to go she fell off pace and she joined in the main group. She only took like 1/2sec rest, and was immediately at the front again, telling us what to do for the finish! She rode such a great race, she made us all race harder today, thanks Sarah!! That's what bike racing is all about..."you take risks and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't!" She said afterwards!

So, in the pack..Advil had done a great job of chasing w/ 3-4riders on the front pretty much the entire race...Colovita/Lipton were quick to shut down any solo riders that tried any funny buisnass.

After the race in our Post race meeting, we almost did one big gay group hug (no offense Nicole, I LOVE 'the gays')...because we are all so pleased w/ our immediate chemistry and teamwork. EVERYONE on this composite team rode their best, gave all they had, it was great to be a part of it.

On the last lap we had everyone involved in a lead out. Which often takes months to figure out w/ teams...needless to say we were all excited! The results are not what we hoped for, but we did so many other things right today that we all walked away feeling proud and ready to fight another day tomorrow! What a refreshing feeling! Yea teamwork, that's what makes bike racing fun!
